[It's always about the airships in this world and while Prompto isn't a fan he's slightly getting acclimated so he doesn't freak out completely, only partially.
But he's still uncomfortable and he doesn't want to ride along on his own. So Prompto flops down next to Noctis with a sigh.]
[He knows, bro. He would have flown the Regalia if he could, but today was just not a day he trusts himself behind the wheel. That, and he wasn't about to force Felix to fly this great a distance. He's leaning against a wall, legs crossed as he looks out the window. Hoping the others don't catch on to this way of getting him out of bed any time soon.
When Prompto sits down beside him, he raises an eyebrow. Before chuckling.]
Oh yeah, boats are fun. Good thing I'm not afraid of the water.
[He chuckles slightly and tilts his head.]
Yeah, I was thinking out loud about being in Insomnia before all this stuff, you know. Hanging out all the time, Cor training me until I was ready to collapse. It was nice. I miss that stuff but that's kinda dumb, right? I mean...
[Noctis chuckles at that. Good thing, indeed. He listens, some of that smile faltering a little.
Ah. That's why he stopped.
He shrugs.] Nah. I miss it, too. [He pauses, before looking at Prompto.] Could always bother Cor for extra training, though. I'm sure he'd be thrilled.
[Apparently his best friend can't leave curiosity alone, even if it was to avoid hearing Prompto say something stupid.
Ah well, he wouldn't change Noct for anything. He snickers.]
Yeah, I bet he would. It's kind of nice he's here, you know?
[He admires Cor, he thinks he's safe to have around, like he'll have their back and to Prompto that means a lot. And for some reason, sometimes he turns his eyes on Prompto himself, even if he's the least important. It makes him feel important.]
He listened to me ramble when we went out drinking, so...that's good? Although if he had as much as me, he might not remember that so that would be better because that's embarrassing.
[Well, you know what they say... 'curiosity killed the cat' and all. He settles in to listen to the rambling, nodding at the assessment.]
Yeah, it really is.
[Having Cor here... Even if this place took all their previous combat experience away, it's one more person he trusts at his back. And that? That was something he greatly appreciated. It's also really cute how Prompto goes on about him.]
He also started a bar fight.
[If he recalls correctly, anyway. Much of the night's still a blur. Like, he remembers talking to Shiro about something important. Vaguely talking to Ravus and Castor and agreeing to play a drinking game with Ignis. The outcome, he has no idea. It's like the rest of that was blacked out from his memory. One thing he does remember, though, is...
Oh. Speaking of embarrassing.] Didn't we... 'talk' that night?
[He may or may not remember pulling Prompto into his lap, and... uh................]
[He remembered that, but he didn't remember what they were fighting about exactly. His own memories were on the hazy side, but he remembered the so called conversation he had with Noctis.]
Uh...yeah.
[They talked. Spoke words. Nothing more. The tips of his ears were turning pink as the blood began rushing to his head.]
You uh, fed me bacon. That's it.
[Because if Noctis doesn't remember, then that's probably for the best.]
[Beats him. All he knew was that one minute he looked over to check on Prom and saw him talking to Cor, figured it was fine because Cor. Next thing he knew Cor was punching Clarus' lights out.
He wished he brought his iMog slate, then. To record that beatdown for posterity. It was beautiful from what he could remember.]
You sure? [He asks, raising an eyebrow.] 'Cuz all I remember is pulling you into my lap and...
[Y-yeah. That might be the back of his neck turning red. Also his ears. Maybe his face a bit, too. He doesn't remember the bacon at all (but then, when does he remember what he ate?)]
[Why was he asking that? Why did he remember that much? Is he going to make Prompto say it? How does he say it without freaking out, or freaking Noct out?]
Yeah, I mean, you were comforting me, I think. It doesn't really matter. It was a nice hug.
[There, best friends hug all the time. Easy sidestep. They didn't have to do more than hug that night and Noct could go on and forget what happened.]
[There's a slight problem to that sidestep. That being his memory is very selective when drunk. Especially when he mixes drinks. He doesn't remember what he ate or what he discussed other than a sudden surge of outrage at Clarus and overwhelming concern for Prompto and wanting to reassure his best friend how much he means to... him...
...
Noctis sighs, a little annoyed. Mostly because his back is gonna hate him for this, but he still pulls Prompto a bit closer before closing the distance. Lightly kissing him if allowed. He'll pull away a few seconds later, still red and now maybe inwardly panicking just a tad because oh Six, he did that while sober.]
Their lips meet and his eyes widen in surprise for a moment, even if it's light and brief, it's still a kiss. A sober kiss. When they're both fully aware of what they're doing.]
There was...that too, yeah.
[He bit his lower lip, trying to think about how to explain himself, because their kissing was rather thorough at the bar, not like the soft brush of the lips right then. If he confessed how he felt, Noctis would know and if he was just testing the waters, it could do damage to their friendship.]
I mean...we were drunk, you don't have to worry about it? I mean, um, I wasn't going to bring it up?
[He sighs, shaking his head. No, no it didn't help. If anything, it just annoyed him even more. Mainly because he thought he'd been obvious the last few weeks.]
We've been sharing a bed. For weeks.
[Even pushed the two of theirs together for more room. That usually is not how best friends do. Far as he knows, anyway.
[He stares at Noctis in disbelief. He doesn't know any more than Noct does about 'normal best friends' but he has a compartment for these feelings labelled 'never going to happen']
We were totally trashed, I figured it was just a thing. From that night, you could never like me so I never thought about it.
[That's a lie, he's thought about it, he's just quashed it, hard.]
[Oh, sweet Shiva. He really is being an idiot about this. He pauses, staring at his best friend and giving him the most credulous look.]
Really?
[Are you fucking kidding him right now> How could a mutual drunken moment make him hate this nerd? He's kind of flabbergasted and wants to prove to him he's wrong, but... There's just one tiny problem.]
You're-
[He pauses, backpedals slightly, tries again.]
You mean a lot to me.
[Ugh, okay that was slightly better, but come on, Noctis. You're the gods damned king and have faced gods. You can say three little words.]
You saw it. Those flashes of memory. I don't just lose it for anyone. [Doesn't practically beg to turn back for anyone, either. He sighs, deciding to just say fuck it all and spits it out.] I love you, but man, can you be dense sometimes.
[It wasn't like he thought Noctis hated him, just that he didn't feel like that about him. And Prompto was fine with that, really.
He wasn't expecting a confession, ever, so he happens to look surprised. Even if he liked him, or wanted to kiss him again that didn't mean he loved him, at least like that.
He just had to play it cool, even though he was blushing which was decidedly not cool.]
I'm not! [He protests.]
Noct, it's just...liking you, I mean. Argh.
[He'd tease Noct for not expressing his feelings well, but he had the same problem. Maybe, just maybe, he could get out of his head for a moment or two.]
I love you too.
[He sighed slightly.]
Are you sure about this? [Noctis knows what Prompto's like.]
Might not be the best person to say it, but... just say what you mean.
[He says to the stuttering mess. Also, what is this cool of which you speak? Because pretty sure that got thrown out the airship about half an hour into the flight.]
I know. You kinda said that on the hallway floor of our old place.
[While he was still reeling from both himself finding out and then finding out Prompto found out. Wait, that sounds so weird out of context. Shit.]
About as much as I am my back isn't thanking me for getting out of bed this morning. [He was way too excited about suddenly giant mechanical lion waking up not to, though.] But, life's too short not to live it.
[He smiles faintly, staring up at the ceiling because he can't really get a decent view of outside from here. He... likely never will get over Luna. He loved her so much it hurts to think he'll never see her again until he joins her in death unless by some miracle, she arrives here. But, it hurt just as much not knowing if the man beside him was safe and later finding out he hadn't been. It hurt knowing how much Ignis paid to protect him, too, even if he doesn't know the full details.
So, he's sure alright. The only thing he's not sure of is if it's fair to any of them. Knowing what's to come when he wakes in their world.]
Noct. [He whines a little, Noctis knows how easily he gets flustered and this kind of thing...no wonder he's all over the place. ]
Yeah, I kinda did, well...it's true. Even if you don't like me like that, it's still true. We're family, dude.
[He sighs softly.] Thought you were looking stiff. I'd kiss you again, but I don't think a repeat of stuff is going to help your back. Want me to rub it?
[He doesn't know if that would help or not. Prompto knows Noctis loved Luna. He seemed to, and he was devastated by her loss, which was another reason this was never going to happen in his mind. He didn't think he could compare to her. But, she was also dead and even if their time was short, fleeting, it felt nice to know he was loved.
How selfish of him.]
Yeah. Life is...yeah. [Instead, maybe, he'll offer his hand to Noct.]
[He smirks a little, but it's quick to fade into a genuine smile. Family, huh.]
Well, I do, so... [He blinks at the offer, and has to keep himself from laughing.] Only if you want me jumping out of my skin.
[He's kidding. Or is he? Prompto was the one who took a photo of him trying the massage at Galdin. ...And doing just that.
Besides, it's not a comparison contest. He loves them both for being themselves. Even with all of Prompto's hangups and baggage. Who doesn't have that these days, anyway? Plus... he's one of the few he feels he can be just himself around.
Maybe it's selfish of him, but he can't seem to give a damn. He does take that hand in his though, squeezing gently.]
He wasn't trying to compete with Lunafreya, but he laces their fingers and leans against Noct's shoulder. He had a lot of baggage, but most of it Noct already knew. He knows him so well he knows what he's getting.
Prompto sighs a little and smiles sheepishly.]
But, uh, yeah, if you want to kiss some other time, we can do that.
[He's very tempted to lay down... just, not on the floor. He'd prefer not to get stepped on. So instead, he rests his head on Prompto's. Sorry, but someone basically offered it. He also turns his head and presses a small kiss on Prom's head.]
I'd be game.
[They do indeed, and they have a long trip ahead of him.]

But he's still uncomfortable and he doesn't want to ride along on his own. So Prompto flops down next to Noctis with a sigh.]

Tell me about it.

Yeah. All this flying around and heights and stuff.
[He shakes his head and draws up his leg, draping his arm lazily over his knee.]
Crazy place. Sometimes...
[He trails off and shakes his head. Nah, better not to let his mind go back there to the past. They have to look to the future.]

Sadly my dad's boat hasn't appeared yet, or I would have suggested that.
